POLICE in Bushenyi are investigating circumstances under which students of Mitooma Vocational Secondary School attacked neighbouring Bitooma Comprehensive School, where 12 students were beaten and injured, reports Chris Ahimbisibwe.

The district Police commander, Jimmy Oyuku, said the students of Mitooma, who were allegedly armed with stones, pangas, spears, sticks and bricks, also vandalised school property at Bitooma.

Oyuku described the situation as calm by Saturday.

He said according to Police investigations, the grudges between the two schools started in 2008 over a football pitch they are sharing.

“This is the third time Mitooma students are attacking Bitooma. The first attack was in July 2008, then February 2009, this is the third time,” Oyuku said.

“It is a bigger issue now we have to intervene and investigate the root cause,” He added

He, however, warned the directors of the two schools not to use the students to solve their wrangles if they are involved in any.

“If they have problems between them, they should not use students to solve the issues otherwise we are going to investigate and the law will take its course on the culprits,” he warned.
