Police officers should wear right belts

EDITOR—It is very common to see Police officers wearing the green army belt sometimes on top of the blue and white belts! I have known the Police belt to traditionally have blue and white stripes and this is what the Inspector General of Police wears.

I am one of those Ugandans who believe the Police has considerably improved its image despite the pertaining circumstances.

At a time when some people, especially in the opposition suspect that some Police officers are army men in Police uniform, this green belt could only support that suspicion.

The Police spokesperson should inform the public if the green belt is now part of the Police attire.

Are there no right belts in the stores for Police officers? I am competent enough to distinguishing the Police belts from those worn by UTODA officials although it is also common for Utoda officials to wear Police belts!

This particular case is crazy. I have talked to some Police officers who also find it strange. I believe no army personnel can wear a Police belt on a military uniform. The Police should wear a proper Police uniform.
