FOUR political parties have launched ‘Change 2011’ stategy to capture state power.

The People’s Development Party (PDP), National Coalition for Democracy (NCD), National Peasants Party (NPP) and Movement for Volunteers (MV) signed the agreement on Wednesday at Pope Paul Hotel in Ndeeba. They agreed to front a single candidate for the 2011 presidential elections.

Forum for Democratic Change member, Salim Angoliga, People's Progressive Party president Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, the Inter-Party Coalition (IPC) and Conservative Party president John Ken Lukyamuzi and the former Katikkiro of Buganda, Dan Muliika witnessed the signing of the agreement.

“If 27 people captured state power in five years, for us we are ready to capture power in one year and we are starting now with this strategy,” the PDP president, Abed Bwanika, said.

The coalition promised to visit all districts and inform people of their agenda.
“Our aim is to also mobilise Ugandans in the diaspora to support the initiative,” Bwanika added.

“I support the move for all political parties to unite and contest for the elections with one candidate,” Angoliga, the FDC deputy secretary for defence said.
