Katende back in UABF team
- Former national coach Dick Katende has been picked to represent the interest of coaches in the domestic boxing body, UABF. The longest serving coach at the Bombers’ technical bench, was elected unopposed by the coaches commission at Lugogo. Following his election, the former national boxer vowed to bring coaches together for the development of the sport.
Katende’s deputy is Mangeni Mango of Busia while the former Bombers captain Charles Lubulwa was elected secretary.

Kasagule top
- Uganda’s Francis Kasagule was on Saturday named this year’s male athlete for the Southland Conference cross country season. Another Ugandan Bob Ahimbisibwe also took the freshman of the year honours, an award won by Kasagule in 2006 when he joined Lamar University. Former national runner Kasagule joined Lamar University on a sports scholarship.

Major award for KCB film
- Two Ugandan sports film entries at the World FICTS final challenge in Milan, Italy have won the “Mention of Honour” this month. The two entries are the KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda rally in which fish tycoon and rally ace Riyaz Kurji died and the DHL Sports Africa which is a weekly TV show. The annual festival attracted 180 entries from across the globe. A South Africa film also got an award.
