It is not common for candidate classes to be sent home before completing their exams, but Comboni College in Lira did exactly that without even giving parents an explanation.

I was surprised on November 7, when I received a call from the school informing me that all S.4 students had to go home, including those who had not yet completed their examinations. That means they have to commute from their various homes to sit the exams. What have the students done that prompted the headteacher to take such a drastic decision?

Was the higher authorities, including the board of governors and the ministry consulted before taking this decision?

This inefficiency in administration should be investigated. In proper administration, the students should have been served with letters to parents stating the circumstances under which they are being sent back home, more so in the middle of the Uganda National Examinations Board examinations. The education ministry should intervene.
