The European Union under the 9th European Development Fund has released sh200m to boost development in the district. Addressing journalists on Monday, the chief administrative officer, Andrew Leru, said the money would enhance the capacity of stakeholders to maintain infrastructure and improve dialogue between the local governments and civil society.

Acholi leaders have condemned the rampant sales of and wrangles over communal land, resulting into displacement of vulnerable people. The RDC, Walter Ochora, said the Government should not be blamed for the disputes, suggesting that a law should be enacted to stop the conflicts.
