MBALE LC5 chairman Bernard Mujasi has said the arrest last week of Maj. Roland Kakooza Mutale and Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Sekikubo was a violation of their rights.

Mutale and Sekikubo were campaigning for Joy Kabatsi, an independent candidate in the Sembabule Woman MP byelections.

Mutale, the leader of the Kalangala Action Plan and a presidential advisor and Sekikubo are both NRM members.

Party officials accused them of using the NRM symbol (the bus) and colour (yellow) to canvass support for Kabatsi, against the party flag-bearer Anifa Kawooya.

“Mutale is a senior citizen. It is high time the NRM started being more tolerant to divergent views. We should respect people’s views,” said Mujasi.
