Golf Union introduces Inter-club competition

UGANDA Golf Union (UGU) has included an inaugural Inter-club tournament in the 2009 calendar passed by the UGU assembly over the weekend.

UGANDA Golf Union (UGU) has included an inaugural Inter-club tournament in the 2009 calendar passed by the UGU assembly over the weekend.

The Inter-club tournament, that is the closing event of the 2009 season, is slated for December 19-20 at Uganda Golf Club. The tournament which promises to be popular is the second team-event on the calendar after the Inter-regions that is scheduled for August 22-23.

The three-day event will see teams from Jinja, Kampala, Toro, Kabale, Lugazi, Tororo, Entebbe, Mbarara, Kinyara, Lira, Kabale, Arua and Kasese golf clubs face off.

The calendar has 21 events, 17 of which count towards the Union stroke-play championship.

UGU has been allocated a corporate tournament on February 17 which will coincide with the elections which were postponed.

Entebbe Golf Club will host the East Africa Golf Challenge due August 28-September 1 and the oldest club in the country will two days later play host to the prestigious Uganda Open sponsored by uganda telecom.

The West Nile Open that was not held last year has been maintained on the calendar on December 12-13.
