KABAROLE - The Supreme Court has confirmed a 12-year jail-term for a man who defiled a seven-year-old girl. The Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki, headed the panel comprising justices John Wilson Tsekooko, George William Kanyeihamba, Bart Katureebe and Galdino Magellan Okello. Bernard Kalyegira, a resident of Futi-Butangwa village in Karambi sub-county, contended that the Court of Appeal had made a mistake to uphold the conviction by the trial court. He had been convicted by the High Court in 2002.

75-year-old woman raped

MBARARA - The Police are holding a man for raping a 75-year-dumb woman. Southwestern Police spokesperson Polly Namaye, identified the suspect as Gilbert Tumushime, 21, from Rushozi in Kashari county. Namaye said Tumushime disclosed that he was under the influence of marijuana.
