THE Economic Partnership Agreements negotiations between African, Caribbean, Pacific countries and the European Union are to be concluded before 2008

THE Economic Partnership Agreements negotiations between African, Caribbean, Pacific countries and the European Union are to be concluded before 2008, reports Peter Kaujju.

Ambassador Vincent De Visscher, the head of the EU Delegation in Uganda, regretted that the agreements had been misunderstood.

“Negotiations are being finalised and will come into effect in 2008. The EU wants to encourage regional integration by creating an environment that encourages and facilities competitiveness and investment,” he said.

Visscher emphasised that the EU does not have hidden interests as has been reported in some media.

The Ambassador was on Monday launching a resource centre at the Private Sector Foundation in Nakasero.
