LOCAL leaders in Jinja municipality have been urged to take advantage of the decentralisation process to promote industrial entrepreneurship and good governance in order to fight poverty, writes Doreen Musingo.

The town clerk, David Naluwayiro, said this would enhance effective delivery of services, participatory democracy and create jobs.

Naluwayiro was addressing the municipal councillors and technical staff during a workshop on the Joint Annual Review on Decentralisation in Jinja Town Hall recently.

He urged the leaders to promote economic development as a strategy to address challenges of poverty alleviation by guiding the locals to engage in activities that improve household income.
