While recognising that the traders were violent, it did not really require those logs called sticks to beat them.

Ugandans have a right to demonstrate. With due respect to the Uganda Police it is curious and unreasonable for Police officers armed with guns and tear gas to hit people as if hitting snakes. They seemed to be saying: “We shall not drop the stick until the snake is dead”! The police should never abuse their authority because every Ugandan deserves fair treatment.

Police officers should do their work but they should also do it in the service of fellow human beings.

It is not right for unarmed people to suffer such brutality at the hands of heavily armed policemen. The Police need civilians as much as civilians need the Police. This inhumanity must stop.
