The army has disbanded protected kraals in the Karamoja sub-region, reports Daniel Edyegu.
The 3rd Division commander, Brig. Patrick Kankiriho, on Wednesday told LC3 chairpersons from Bokora county and Moroto district leaders that the move was aimed at streamlining army operations, following the prevailing peace in the region.
“All animals should be taken away from the army detaches with immediate effect. The people should keep the animals in their homes. The army will deploy strategically to provide security,†Kankiriho said during a meeting at Kongole trading centre.
“We will avail the local leaders with the telephone numbers of our commanders to call in case of any raids,†Kankiriho explained.
