OVER the weekend, I bumped into a friend at dressed in a long multi-coloured maxi dress. She looked gorgeous. The white purse and white wedges she had to match it made a fashion statement.

The 1960s and 1970s style maxi dress is definitely back in vogue. The dress is in keeping with the throw back vintage trend; focus on romanticism and is well suited for many women because they make them feel more feminine.

Leila Nayiga, a fashion designer at Pioneer mall, says maxi dresses cover thicker thighs and hide wide hips. On the other hand, the mini dress proves suitable for only those with skyscraper legs.

“These dresses have come in multiple colours. Some have straps while others are strapless,” says Nayiga Brendah Maraka, an international fashion designer, says to get the best result, maxi dresses should be paired up with patent wedges, high heels and simple summer sandals to make them appear very feminine and extremely gorgeous.

Max dresses are also multi-purpose, to be worn when one is pregnant or not. Both slim and fat women can use a big or medium belt to generate a perfect fitting around the waist.

Max dresses are worn by international celebrities like American actresses Kate Hudson, Kate Holmes among others.

You can purchase a maxi dress at Pioneer Mall, Maureen’s Boutique, shop no.53, Mabirizi Complex shop G.59 just to mention a few.
