IT will be a professional matter when the KCB series final tees-off in Kenya tomorrow at Nyali golf club. Uganda’s leading golfer Deo Akope has fond memories of the course. “I was there in 2005 in the Nyali Open as an amateur and finished second,” remembers Akope.

Akope, who flew out yesterday evening, will lead six professionals from Uganda with hope of winning and dominating the region. He however knows the task ahead. “It’s going to be hard to win because we shall be taking on the best in the region.”

One of the main contenders is home boy Kopan Timbe; a player Akope believes will be tough.

Dennis Anguyo, another Ugandan pro, is equally in high spirits ahead of the showdown that could only be decided by a swing of magic. “Am very confident of my abilities and have no reason to get scared. The point will be concentration,” he said.

The course also proves to be a tricky one. “The Nyali course is very windy and that makes it very difficult to play on so we shall have to play against the wind as well. But that’s what the game is about,” said Akope.

The four-day event will also see Rwandans Emmanuel Ruterana and Jean Baptiste compete.

Other Ugandan pros travelling include Amos Kamya, Geoffrey Mande, Herman Mutawe and Brian Toolit. But due to personal commitments Dickson Lagoro will miss while Gerald Ayella had not confirmed by press time.
