Lira Red Cross Women Football Club pounded Nancy School for the Deaf 9-0 in the opening match of the district league at Lango sports ground on August 7.

The league was flagged off by Lira District Football Association chairman Joseph Orombi. He encouraged more women to take up the sport since there are few women footballers.
