Six secondary schools in the Acholi sub-region will benefit from the new peace education, guidance and counselling programme to start soon. The programme will be implemented by the Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Uganda (SPRING), a USAID-funded project. SPRING chief Arthur Soreta recently said USAID would spend over $150,000 (about sh300m) on the project.

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has given the Government money to complete the National Teachers’ College Unyama, according to the college’s deputy principal, Joseph Ochieng- Ogolla. He said the amount had not been disclosed.“The funds will be used to build offices, lecture rooms, laboratories and students’ halls of residence,” he said. Ochieng-Ogolla made the disclosure during the opening of a two-week cadre course for 300 youth at the college recently.
