You can end it gracefully

IT is every mature individual’s dream to get that person with whom to share his or her love ‘till death do us part.’ Unfortunately, these love relationships sometimes end up in nasty break-ups, leaving the affected party with a painful scar.

Whether it is you or your partner who decides to end the relationship, break-ups are not a bed of roses. But sometimes it is inevitable.

To avoid nursing that endless hatred towards your ex, find ways of graciously breaking up. Here are some tips:

Do not drag it out
When it is over, it is over. You are not doing your partner or yourself any favour by delaying the inevitable. Rather sooner than later.

Be honest
The oldest line is “it’s me not you”. Although this might be easier, the only way you can truly help your partner is by being completely honest with him or her. This will help them understand why you are breaking up.

Do not overlap
The worst thing you can do is seeing someone else before you tell your partner that it is over. Your new catch will certainly have doubt about you.

Can you be friends?
It is totally outrageous to set yourself up on such a wild goose chase. Do not expect to be friends after a break-up. Even if you were friends before you became intimate, your friendship can never be the same again.

Let him have his say
Do not expect your partner to leave it at that if you decide to end it, especially if it has come out of the blue. She will want to ask questions or try to talk you round. Let him or her have his/her say. This will give you the chance to explain why you want to end the relationship.

Do it in private
Even if you do not like your partner, the worst thing you can do is dump him in public. It is the ultimate humiliation.

Treat it like normal business
More often than not, when we try to end a relationship, we are made to feel guilty. If you want him out, no matter how much he begs, stick to your decision before things get worse.

Treat her well
being dumped is a horrible experience, so try to put yourself in the same situation. How would you like it to be done? Do to others as you would have wished to be done for you.
