ARMY side UPDF will be out to extend their dominance in the seventh edition of the Inter-Forces championship next week.

The four-time champions boast of formidable form in football, athletics, volleyball and shooting in the two-week events starting Monday in Luzira running until November 13.

UPDF athletes have been in a high altitude camp in Bukwo in preparation for the event. They need to tame the rising form of Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) in athletics and Uganda Police and Uganda Wildlife Authority in shooting.

The gala will open with a march past from the Constitutional Square to Luzira before action starts in athletics, darts, football, handball, netball, volleyball and shooting.

The championship, whose theme is ‘Reviving the Glory of Sports in Uganda’, is meant is to promote fraternity and working relationship among the armed forces, according to UPDF spokesman Lt. Colonel Felix Kulayigye.

“But our vision is, to make forces a hub of sports in Uganda by providing the national teams with high performing sportsmen and women,” he stressed in a statement.
