WORLD Vision has commissioned community projects worth sh300m in Nakaseke district.

The projects that will benefit over 100,000 residents, include classroom blocks in Nabiika UMEA in Kyamutakasa, Kasagga, Kasambya and Butayunja Church on the Rock.

Others are boreholes and springs, teachers’ houses in Lukese and Nakigulube, and a staff unit for Bulyake health centre II.

The district chairperson, Komu Ignatius Kiwanuka, who commissioned the projects on Wednesday, hailed World Vision for supporting the community.

“For 20 years, my people have been suffering without safe water. Children were studying in bad classrooms and teachers had to walk long distances to teach. This has stopped with the commissioning of these projects,” he told officials at Kasambya Primary School.

Komu said the safe water projects would improve the health of the locals.

George William Ebulu, the World Vision central region manager, said they aim at ensuring that children complete primary education.

“It is not only about proving infrastructure, but also ensuring transformational development among the children, especially girls,” he said.

Pamela Ebanyat, the World Vision district manager, commended the residents for providing raw materials for the construction of the classrooms, teachers’ houses and staff unit for health workers.

The NGO has supported development programmes in Nakaseke and Kasangombe sub-counties for 11 years.
