Afande Kayihura, visit Mulago for an update on the ‘boda-boda’ crisis

EDITOR—The manner in which boda-boda cyclists operate in Kampala under the ‘watchful’ eye of our Police is horrifying.

They jump traffic lights anywhere in the city. While motorists and other road users wait patiently for the green light, the cyclists just weave their way through the traffic. Sometimes they even ride towards oncoming traffic while at the same time trying to avoid knocking each other! If you have ever been a passenger on one such boda-boda, you will clearly understand what I am talking about.

The most annoying and shocking part of it is that this is done in the presence of the Police! I hope the Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Kale Kayihura, will read this complaint and take action.

All he needs to do is to visit the Mulago Hospital emergency ward and ask any of the accident victims how they got injured. He will know the extent of the problem!
