THE Principal Judge, Justice James Ogoola, has been named the anti-corruption personality of the year by a non-governmental organisation. The Anti-Corruption Coalition drew up a list of people who the public perceives as exemplary and those regarded as corrupt.

The ‘Fame and Shame’ list was published in a booklet launched at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Tuesday.

President Museveni appears on both the fame and shame lists. Museveni was praised for his policy of zero tolerance to corruption and his frequent warnings to severely deal with corrupt civil servants.

However, the respondents, were dissatisfied with escalating corruption and impunity. They blamed the President for what they called ‘reluctance’ to deal with corrupt ministers.

The survey was done in January.

The list of shame includes personalities who have been implicated in controversies in 2008.

The municipalities of Mbale and Fort-Portal got awards from the Local Government Association for physical improvement and proper use of resources and planning.

Hoima-based Azur Christian Health Centre also scooped an award for integrity and exemplary service.
