EDITOR—An eleventh title in 15 CECAFA final appearances and three back-to-back wins is simply ecstatic, to say the least. But the 2008/2009 back-to-back package is special in many respects—it has been won largely by youngsters who ply their trade in the region and by a coach gradually but surely turning the Ugandan team into an Arsenal of sorts.

Never in Uganda’s recent soccer history has a Ugandan side passed the ball with such ease. However, Uganda’s interest in CECAFA is no longer silverware (11 titles against the closest rivals Kenya with five) but the rather tempting prize of money.

Uganda can therefore miss in action for a staggering six years to let Kenya ‘catch up’ if at all. In these six years Uganda should export its potent army to the COSAFA region and further assert their prowess on the continent they once dominated.
