THE Kaaba Mpola album launch held at the Hotel Equatoria parking yard last Friday started well. By 9pm fans had filled the vast parking yard and the curtain raisers were at it. Doreen Mutibwa, Charles Sekyewa and Kabuye Semboga warmed the stage. For the first time, Eagles Production Band members performed as a group, and each member sang a colleague’s song, causing excitement among the fans.

But, by the time they wound up, it was late, yet other singers like Lady Mariam, General Mega Dee, The Obsessions, Rebecca Jingo, Hilderman and Betty Mpologoma were impatiently waiting.

By the time Dr. Tee, went on stage, fans were already tired. He sang four songs and went off stage for a break with the intention of coming back later to wind up with Kaaba Mpola, but things went wrong.

When the Emcee, Meddie Nsereko, rushed to bring him on the stage again, fans had started leaving. Nsereko refused some artistes to sing because there was no more time. Singer Red Banton got so angry when his performance was stopped that he hurled insults at Nsereko and left the stage.

Betty Mpologoma got a chance to perform, but the drizzle which sent fans on their way left her performing to empty white plastic chairs.
