Uganda Christian University Mukono has installed a multi-million shilling power station to check the constant power black-outs on the campus.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Steven Noll, said the 11,000 voltage power plant that includes a 400KVA diesel-driven generator, would supply back-up power that would give the university more economic and reliable energy.
He commended the Government for refunding Value Added Tax (VAT) on the generator and other equipment.
Daudi Migereko, the Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, who commissioned the facility on Tuesday, hailed the university for the initiative.
He noted that uninterrupted power supply was crucial for the success of academic programmes.
