PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the African Union’s 10th ordinary summit, which starts today.

Museveni was scheduled to hold a meeting last evening with the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-Moon and some American officials to discuss the situation in Kenya and Somalia, according to a statement issued from State House in Kampala.

Upon his arrival yesterday afternoon, Museveni immediately attended the African Peer Review Mechanism meeting. Museveni was received by the Ethiopian state minister of health, Dr. Kebede Worku, on arrival at Bole International Airport.

However, during a ministerial meeting ahead of the summit on Monday, Kenyan foreign minister Moses Wetangula: “Tried to act as if nothing had happened and presented a report on the situation in his country,” a summit attendant told AFP on condition of anonymity. The government maintained that Kenya was facing a crisis not a civil war and needed no foreign intervention.

“We can handle the situation and have enough internal capacity to solve the problem. There is no need for external support,” Wetangula said.
