A 20-year-old Asian man from Lira district has been charged with defilement. The man, only identified as Shoudry, allegedly defiled and impregnated a 13-year-old Primary Five pupil of Lango Quran Primary School
Shoudry on Friday appeared before the chief magistrate, Gabriel Nyipir, who remanded him at Lira Government Prison.
The criminal investigation department officer at Lira Police Station, Christopher Ucamgiu, said the girl is five months pregnant.
“Their affair has been going on for sometimes. His friends at work know about it.â€
Shoudry, who was working with Maharaja Agro Input Dealers, was arrested last week at Bazzar West in Lira municipality.
However, he could not make a statement because he does not know any other language apart from Hindu.
