The Government is implementing the Prosperity-for-All (Bonna Bagaggawale) programme to eradicate household poverty following the success of the universal primary and secondary education.

Speaking at Nyakasharu sub-county on Thursday during his tour of Bushenyi district, President Yoweri Museveni told the locals that the Government would facilitate six families in each parish every financial year.

He advised the youth to access affordable credit for their projects through forming cooperative societies.

He also urged the people to engage in several economic ventures such as rearing dairy cows, growing bananas, poultry farming, fruits and bee-keeping.

According to a statement issued from State House last week, Museveni said the Government would ensure that every household earns at least sh20m per year. The President visited Yorokamu Batuma’s farm in Kyamuhunga, Igara West.

Batuma earns sh200m yearly from the 50 acres of land on which he grows tea, bananas and also rears goats and sheep.

Museveni also visited the 250-acre farm of Eriabu Muhoozi, who earns over sh3m per year from eucalyptus trees, tea, dairy and fish farming.

Museveni commended Muhoozi for his entrepreneurial skills particularly the fish farming and hatchery projects. He said the agriculture ministry would promote bulk imports of agricultural inputs. The Government will ensure that the inputs are locally produced in the near future.
