According to Fr. Anthony Musaala of St. Matia Mulumba Catholic Church in Old Kampala, Valentine’s Day was originally a Christian feast, which was later ‘hijacked’ by the secular world.
Saint Valentine was a Catholic priest, who was famous for his passion for Christian marriage. It is against that background that Musaala staged a Gospel concert for Christians on Valentine’s Day. He said the concert was intended to give Christians an alternative to the secular Valentine’s Day celebrations, which end in sexual orgies.
Musaala prayed for those without partners and gave a rose to everyone. His musical group entertained guests.
