STATE House, the former Super League football side that is now struggling in Kampala’s Division 1, will get a share of Ibrahim Sekagya’s sh2.5bn transfer last year from Argentina’s Arsenal to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

The compensation is as a result of a FIFA ruling that clubs that participated in grooming of players from the age of 12 to 23 share 5% of the transfer fee.

Football governing body FUFA confirmed yesterday that Red Bull official Christopher Freund wrote to them on February 14 for details of the federation account. “Sekagya told us that it is better to pay the amount of the Solidarity Fund altogether to FUFA and they give the money to the respective clubs in Uganda,” Freund said.

For each year from 12-16, each club will get 5% while from 17-23, the club will get 10% of the total transfer fee. Freund’s action follows a petition by KCC official Anguria Omongole.

Sekagya’s first club KAYOFA play part time football in Kawempe, Equatoria are defunct while State House are struggling. Former FUFA man Yusuf Kyeyune, who is bedridden, is one of the officials.
