Odhiambo sweeps centennial tourney

KENYAN David Odhiambo made an amazing recovery in the last two rounds, thrusting from the bottom of the leader board to win the Professional golf tournament to mark 100 years of Uganda Golf Club.

KENYAN David Odhiambo made an amazing recovery in the last two rounds, thrusting from the bottom of the leader board to win the Professional golf tournament to mark 100 years of Uganda Golf Club.

Odhiambo, who got off to a dismal start with 80 - seven strokes off the pace, shot 69 in the second and followed it up with 68 to win the 54-hole event with an aggregate of 217. He beat day-one leader Deo Akope by three strokes in the event sponsored by Ultimate Security.
“Odhiambo put up a great performance,” Akope remarked.

Denis Anguyo shot a closing round two under par 70 to share second spot with Akope. Stephen Birungi, on his second outing as a professional was fourth.
Today, the two-day Centennial event tees off with 200 golfers from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi and Zambia.
