A MAN in Luweero district has been arrested for allegedly impregnating his 16-year-old sister. The Police last week picked up Yusuf Nsubuga, 23, a resident of Butuntumula in Katikamu sub-county, a month after his alleged victim (name withheld) gave birth to a baby boy.

The district head of criminal investigations, Abuneri Oweka, said Nsubuga would be charged with defilement and incest.

However, drama unfolded at Luweero Police station when the young mother broke into tears while pleading with the Police to release the suspect.

“Please don’t take him into jail. Who will buy for me food and help me look after the baby or take him to hospital when he falls sick?” the girl cried out.

Oweka explained that Nsubuga’s father, Ephraim Kizito, reported to them that the girl had been staying with him in the same house and he suspected that he was responsible for the pregnancy.

“We are investigating claims by the girl that she had slept with her elder brother.”

Upon arrest, Nsubuga said he was 17 years, but the furious father produced a baptism certificate to prove that he was 23.
