EMMA Katto has been seeded fourth in next week’s KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda rally.

Katto, the highest seeded local driver, lies behind regular Africa Rally Championship campaigners Muna Singh of Zambia, Japanese Hideaki Miyoshi and Ugandan turned Kenyan Riyaz Kurji.

Muna and Miyoshi were placed at the helm by virtue of being FIA priority B drivers, while Katto and Kurji made the top four because of the pace they have exhibited in international events.

Clerk of course Kisitu Mayanja said the entry list has already been presented to the world motorsport governing body, FIA.

“The start-list will be based on this. I am happy to have such a good entry and I hope all of them start the rally,” Kisitu remarked.

South African Jon Williams, who will drive a VW Polo is fifth, while Ugandan Jas Mangat, who is second in the 2008 Africa rally championship standings is sixth. South Africa’s female crew of Lola Verlaque and Megan Verlaque is number 10.

Susan Muwonge, who finished fifth in the last edition of the rally is 17th in the race that has 28 entrants from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Japan.

The three-day rally will start with a super special stage at Lubiri on April 25; and on the second and third days, the rally will traverse Mityana district, 65km west of Kampala.

Hotel Africana, Air Tanzania, Afsat, Fly 540.com, Fire Masters, Mityana Town Council, Packaging Technologies and Ssekanyolya are co-sponsors.

KCB is the main sponsor.
