ROBERT Ssentongo struck the only goal in the second half as KCC FC edged embattled Simba SC 1-0 after yesterday’s Super League action at Nakivubo, and keep pressure on second placed SC Villa.

At Wankulukuku, Express FC was held to a goalless draw by Victors in the other game of the day.

It was Swalley Ssonko, the former Simba SC player, who initiated the fall of Sam Simbwa’s side with a fine cross that Ssentongo met to give KCC a fourth consecutive win in 12 days.

Despite coming from a long rest, Simba’s striker and league top scorer Bruno Olobo was the main culprit for the army side with a host of missed chances. Simba is now fourth from the bottom. Five teams will be relegated at the end of the season.

Express and Victors fought out for a barren draw, the fourth in their six meetings since 2006.

The draw however, lifted Express from eighth to sixth position on the table.

Action returns today with Moses Basena’s URA, fighting to recover from a loss to KCC last weekend, as the taxmen host Kinyara SC at Namboole stadium.

Meanwhile, the Competitions Committee has rescheduled Sunday’s Super League encounter between Police FC and Victors for an early kick off, at the request of the Namboole management.

The match will now start at 10am, to pave way for the Kakungulu Cup second quarter-final fixture between URA and SC Villa at the same venue at 4pm.
