LAST Sunday, the second season of Dance Africa, a show designed to unearth the best freestyle dance talent on the continent, kicked off on Channel O.

The first stop was Lagos, Nigeria, where the talent flowed fast and thick as would-be professional dancers showed off their moves for the judges. Only three were chosen — a trio of talented Nigerians who are now in the running for the top prize.

Other cities taking part are Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania), Accra (Ghana), Windhoek (Namibia), Nairobi (Kenya) and Johannesburg (South Africa). The winner will receive $10,000 (sh17m) and be trained by the Johannesburg-based Dance Umbrella, an annual dance festival that celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2008.

They will also have the chance to perform at the 2008 Channel O Video Music Awards. Dance Season 2 airs on Sundays at 7:00pm on DStv’s Channel O.
