WAKISO - People should attend the seminars organised by the Government on the Land Bill, Kyaddondo South MP Issa Kikungwe has said. However, the legislator, who was this week addressing his constituents at a wedding, urged them not to sign documents brought by the sensitisation team because it could be assumed that they supported the contentious Bill. Kikungwe called on the people to support the Kabaka in his fight against ‘land grabbers’ in Buganda region.

Cop held over cattle theft
LUWEERO - A Policeman has been arrested in connection with the theft of two head of cattle belonging to a resident of Bamunanika. Emmanuel Semwaka, attached to Kamira Police post in Bamunanika, was picked up on Tuesday after he was allegedly found selling one of the cows in the town. The Police recorded a statement from a butcher, who said he had bought the cow from the cop at sh450,000. Kamira LC3 chairman Livingstone Kategaya, said a woman only identified as Namatovu, reported to the Police that her two cows had gone missing.

Defilement suspect jailed

KAMPALA - Nakawa Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded to Luzira Prisons a 26-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl. Prosecution said Yasin Abdalatif, who resides in Kisugu, a city suburb, reportedly committed the crime between April and August in 2003. Court heard that he had sexual intercourse with the girl at her aunt’s home.

Kabaka on coffee drive

MUKONO - Kabaka Ronald Mutebi will tomorrow launch a robusta coffee growing campaign on a five-acre plantation in Naggojje village. The campaign is one of the activities to mark the Buganda Youth day celebrations which will be held at Lugazi playground on the same day.
