THE Catholic Church has warned Government over military action against the LRA.

The rebel leader, Joseph Kony, had drawn Government fury for refusal to sign the peace agreement that would end two years of peace talks mediated by the Government of Southern Sudan.

But the Uganda Episcopal Conference meeting at St Augustine Institute in Kampala on June 10 urged Government to exercise restraint and patience. “Given the delicate situation in the region, a military option cannot provide the solution but could trigger a complex military crisis,” the statement signed by 35 Archbishops, Bishops and top leaders of the Church warned.

Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala and Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, among others, signed the statement.
