There are conmen and women going around pretending to be selling perfume. They approach their victims, normally on streets, shopping centres, entertainment centres hotels or even at parties.
They claim to be selling perfume at very cheap price and offer to give you for sampling by sniffing. If you fall for it and sniff, you will be unconscious and they will rob whatever you have on you.
Tips
1. Be careful with strangers who claim to be promoting products.
2. Always buy your cosmetics from genuine shops or salons.
All the types of perfume are available in Kampala and other places hence you do not have to get them from hawkers or whoever claims to have them.
3. Never sniff what you do not know, especially from strangers.
4. Report suspicious people to Police. You can call the emergency number, 999 or 112 for assistance.
5. Avoid moving with valuables like cameras, laptops and expensive jewelry in public places.
