Spices come in form of dried seed, fruit, root, bark or vegetative substance used in small quantities for the purpose of flavouring.

There are a variety of spices and herbs but what is important is identifying which spices blends best with a particular food.
Azziz, a supervisor at Millennium Supermarket Kisementi says understanding the spice and its taste will simplify which dish to cook it with.

At the spice section in Millennium Supermarket there is a wide assortment of spices, they cost between sh1,500 to sh6,500.

Spices are distinguished from herbs, which are leafy, green plant parts used for flavouring. They keep food tasting fresh over long periods.
