NATIONAL Council of Sports (NCS) chairman Anthony Katamba has named a five-member committee to handle a petition by 14 clubs against the executive of boxing governing body UABF.

The committee headed by William Odwang is expected to have their first meeting on Saturday.

The committee which also has Peninah Kabenge, Prof. Kigongo Bukenya, NCS technical committee chairman Julius Zziwa and general secretary Jasper Aligawesa is expected to report back to Katamba mid next month.

“Our role is to listen to both sides before we report back to the chairman to take a decision on the way forward,” Aligawesa said.

The committee is expected to interview UABF executive and the 14 clubs that lodged a petition with NCS.

The clubs want the executive led by Roger Ddungu to resign.

Led by former UABF presidential candidate Justin Juuko and former boxer turned politician Godfrey Nyakana, the clubs have accused Ddungu of running down the sport.

The clubs are also protesting an increase in the annual subscription fee from sh20,000 to (sh0.5m) and extension of the executive term of office to four years from two.
