THERE are a million requirements that children will need before they go back to school. If you have more than one child returning to school, multiply the million requirements of one child by five.

THERE are a million requirements that children will need before they go back to school. If you have more than one child returning to school, multiply the million requirements of one child by five.

It is an unimaginable list of requirements so which one do you fulfill, which one do you leave out totally and which one do you choose to fulfill later?

If you have the money to clear all the requirements, then good for you and the children but for those without enough money, you have to make some tough decisions of sacrifice and prioritising.

It depends on what your child can choose to forgo or have less of for now so you need to have a father- to-child financial straight talk.

You can cut down the quantities of items like soap, sugar and even pocket money, with the promise to take the balance at the end of the month.

The whole idea is not to put yourself under unnecessary pressure but ensuring that your child understands why you are making the decisions you are making.
