Security organs have warned boda-boda cyclists against associating with criminals who terrorise residents. The district internal security officer, Lt. Tony Lubega, made the warning while meeting cyclists in Kayunga town council on Monday. Lubega said criminals paid cyclists big sums of money to ride them to places where they rob residents of their valuables. Lubega instructed all the cyclists to register with their chairperson, Christopher Nzalambi, within one week.

Stanbic helps HIV/AIDS clinic

Stanbic Bank has constructed a shed for the HIV/AIDS clinic at Mityana Hospital. Handing over the facility on Wednesday, the bank’s area service centre manager, Robinnah Kyazze, said it cost over sh14m. “The money was contributed by the bank’s staff in the central region and the bank topped it up,” Kyazze said. She added that they decided to build the shed after seeing patients taking shelter under trees.

Bodies protect environment

Environmental agencies will today converge at Mabamba wetland to clean up the plant and animal conservation site. Environment minister Maria Mutagamba wil preside over the event. Nature Palace Foundation (NPF), a local NGO, is organising the exercise in which the community will participate. Clean Up the World, an international environmental agency, will coordinate the campaign, said NPF executive director David Kintu.
