Man murdered over sh20,000

Ogwal said the Police had arrested Fred Nzabimana, a resident of the same village, who is reported to have hit Tumusiime on the head with a hoe on Monday afternoon.

A witness and brother to the deceased, Daniel Munyansanga, said Tumusiime gave a sh20,000 note to Nzabimana to deduct sh1,300 and return the change but he did not, leading to a fight in which Tumusiime was hit.

Tumusiime was taken to St. Ambrose health centre in Kagadi, where he died on Tuesday morning.

Ogwal said the Police was concerned about the wave of murders in Kibaale district.

On Saturday morning, 73-year-old Yofesi Tibamwenda was found burnt to ashes in Buraza village, Bwikara sub- county.

Ogwal said preliminary findings revealed that Tibamwenda was burnt by some people who accused him of practicing witchcraft and cannibalism.

This brings the total number of murder cases in Kibaale to over 60 since the year begun.
