STATE minister for water Jennifer Namuyangu has called upon NGOs to help the Government mobilise resources to provide safe water for communities.

Addressing residents at Uganda Technical College Lira on Saturday during the ceremony to commemorate 18 months of partnership between Devine Waters Uganda and Life Water International, Namuyangu said the sh10b the Government had allocated for water sector is not enough.

She said the Government is dedicated to providing safe water to improve people’s health. “Financial and human resources need to be mobilised with help from NGOs in order to provide clean safe water,” Namuyangu said.

She said the Government’s goal was to provide safe water for all Ugandans by 2015. She said only 68% of the population in urban areas and about 63% in rural areas have access to safe water. She commended Devine Waters Uganda for providing clean water in the district.
