BASKETBALL - Uganda’s U-18 girls African basketball championship campaign in Tunisia will not progress beyond the group stage after they were defeated 65-17 by the Ivory Coast yesterday. It was Uganda's third loss in as many games, after defeats to Tunisia and Benin, and all but ended the Zone Five champions' interest in the tournament. The worry must now be exiting the tournament without a win since Uganda's next game is against powerhouse Mozambique.
Budaka league
SOCCER - Budaka hosts Namaddu in one of the two opening matches of Budaka district's first division league tomorrow. In the other match Kamonkoli will host Jami. In Bugiri, the league action gets underway with a match between MTN and Nsango at Naluwerere Primary School. Two days later, Busowa hosts Bugiri who won last year’s league and reached the semis of the regional mini league.
42 clubs for women gala
SOCCER - A Kenyan team Kiisi United FC and four other clubs from Kapchorwa will take part in the two-day women's Independence soccer tournament that starts today in Kampala. Three of the Kapchorwa teams are already in Kampala for the event that has attracted 42 clubs.
