The Kabale University Chancellor, Prof. George Kanyeihamba, has appealed to the district council to donate more land to the university for expansion programmes.
Speaking at the university’s third graduation ceremony on Saturday, Kanyeihamba said having enough land was one of the factors considered for the university to be given a licence.
A total of 176 graduands were awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates.
Kanyeihamba thanked the district administration and the Government for supporting the university.
He also urged founders of the university to support it became a leading education destination in the Great Lakes region.
Prof. Joy Kwesiga, the vice-chancellor, said they were working to ensure that the university is awarded a charter.
She said plans were underway to construct a lecture hall, two hostels, a library and administration block.
Kwesiga added that the university had won two international grants which it would use to sponsor needy students.
She urged female students to work hard and obtain more degrees.
