Hyuha introduced
Rujumbura MP Jim Muhwezi can still use security minister Amama Mbabazi’s name for a good cause. Recently, at the presidential tour in Rukungiri district in Bwambara village, Muhwezi introduced the NRM deputy Secretary General, Dorothy Hyuha, to the electorate. “Do you know Amama Mbabazi? Hyuha is Mbabazi’s deputy in the NRM,” Muhwezi introduced Hyuha, causing laughter. Muhwezi and other MPs have been putting pressure on Mbabazi to resign his position as security minister as a result of the NSSF-Temangalo land saga.

Cunning Lukwago
The senior superintendent of Police, Emmanuel Muhairwe, has no kind words for Kampala Central MP, Erias Lukwago. “Don’t take chances with Lukwago. He may cause commotion or wrangles at any police station or at any prison base. Many inmates praise Lukwago as a saviour who can lead to their release from the cells,” Muhairwe said. The officer said the Police had evidence pinning Lukwago giving a tool to a suspect in detention to break a cell at Central Police Station Kampala. He was testifying to the parliamentary probe committee into police brutality on Monday.

Umeme cursed
State minister for investment Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka is always cursing Umeme for allegedly causing a power surge which keeps damaging his electrical appliances. He says he bought expensive gadgets when he was quitting the job of Secretary General special envoy to the United Nations in the 1990s. “I curse Umeme limited. All my durable and expensive gadgets made in the USA were burnt due to the Umeme’s power fluctuations,” he said. The minister was appearing before the parliamentary committee on national economy.

Boxer Otto
Aruu MP Odonga Otto is a humourous man. He amused the parliamentary probe committee into the police brutality that he is a professional boxer who won a bronze medal when he was in secondary school. He denied boxing the SSP Emmanuel Muhairwe while he was being arrested. “If it was true that I boxed this Muhairwe man, he would have died. If I had touched him that time, I would have injured him because of the pain I went through,” Otto said. There was recorded evidence showing how he was whipped nine times with a leather hippo hide by police officers led by Muhairwe. However, Muhairwe accused Otto of having boxed him, which resulted in his arrest. This is when the MP boasted about his boxing prowess.
