Uganda’s ambassador to Rwanda, Richard Kabonero, has been confirmed as the new Dean of Ambassadors in Rwanda, taking over from South Africa’s Ezra Sigwela.

Sigwela’s tenure ended following his new appointment as Trainer of Diplomats in his home country.

The office of Dean of Ambassadors, Kabonero said, is assumed based on the length of service.

Kabonero started his duties in Rwanda on April 16, 2006, making him the longest-serving diplomat of the 32 ambassadors.

In a speech as Dean on Saturday at a ceremony at Novotel Hotel in Kigali, Kabonero pledged to continue working with the Kigali regime.

He asked the envoys for cooperation and pledged to continue with the work of his predecessor.
