LIRA - There is urgent need for the Government and NGOs to help women who were raped and brutalised by Joseph Kony’s LRA rebels to undergo surgery, Lira resident district commissioner Joan Pacotho has said. “The rebels used machetes and spears to hurt their sexual organs and ever since, the women have endured the wounds without medical checkup,†she said. Pacotho said over 400 women were affected and appealed to the community not to discriminate against them.
