SIR — An organised government is supposed to have control over and monitor foreign immigrants. However, in Uganda it seems the authorities are a bit relaxed on the issue.
SIR — An organised government is supposed to have control over and monitor foreign immigrants. However, in Uganda it seems the authorities are a bit relaxed on the issue.
Many foreigners come without passports and other documents and end up settling here illegally.
We only need serious investors and not illegal immigrants who do petty businesses like hawking and shining shoes.
Don’t we have people who can do those? Other illegal immigrants end up getting employed in the civil service at the expense of qualified Ugandans! Illegal immigration of foreigners can lead to many social, economic and political problems like unemployment, corruption, inflation, terrorism and failure by the government to provide quality social services.
The government should address this matter.
